Emergency Medical Services

The Mendota Fire Department operates three ambulances, one ALS engine, one ALS suburban and one BLS squad (heavy rescue).  The ambulance district includes all of the Mendota Troy Grove Fire Protection District and encompasses approximately 130 square miles.  The department staffs the only advanced life support service in LaSalle County.

Advanced life support intercepts are available to surrounding fire and ambulance protection districts that operate at the basic life support level.  Once contacted, a full-time firefighter/paramedic departs station #1 in the suburban, meets with the BLS unit and field upgrades the requesting ambulance to ALS.  A career firefighter/paramedic is called in to cover the open shift  so that the residents of the City of Mendota are never short on coverage.

The Mendota Fire Department responds to approximately 1,300 EMS calls annually.  The RRREMS System does not require direct contact to administer medications.  The paramedics follow standing orders after forming a field diagnosis.  Click below to see some detailed information about the procedures allowed and the equipment carried on the ambulances.  MFD operates at an expanded scope level through RRREMS.
